About the name

A hi-hat, or hihat, is a type of cymbal and stand used as a typical part of a drum kit by percussionists in R&B, hip-hop, disco, jazz, rock and roll, house, reggae and other forms of contemporary popular music. Hi – Hat keeps the rhythm going, while it’s considered to be the most expressive element of a percussion kit; it can go all the way from being almost bear to hear, to scissors sounds, to crash sounds, to swwweep and swwwweaty sounds that can alter the whole experience that you receive while listening to music. Intriguingly silent or totally loud, Hi – Hat’s got its very own way to go. It’s all about enhancing rhythm and empowering music after all. We like that.
